Get involved with the Stavros Institute

Volunteers a critical part of the student experience! How often you volunteer is completely up to you.

As a volunteer with the Stavros Institute, you will work closely with a small group of students for a full day where what is learned in the classroom comes to life!  Parent and community volunteers play a crucial role in the success of both Enterprise Village and Finance Park.

Volunteering for Enterprise Village and/or Finance Park does not require any specific expertise. You are encouraged to share real-world experience with students as they engage in our hands-on learning experiences.

The total time commitment is 5 1/2 hours, which includes a 1-hour training that takes place before students arrive the day of a school visit. The training provides you with resources and information to help make the day successful for students. During the experience, you have access to a volunteer binder, helpful checklists, and access to Stavros Institute staff to support you.

If you are interested in a Give Back Day for your business, please reach to Katie Hilton, Family and Community Liaison, to create a personalized plan for how your employees can spend the supporting Pinellas County students.

Enterprise Village Volunteering

Enterprise Village simulates a small town, 5th graders become citizens of the Village.  During their visit, they begin to understand the relationships between consumers and businesses, earn a salary and use their checking account to keep track of their spending, and work together to run a business.  Volunteers are assigned a business with students and assist them in conducting 3 business meetings, guiding them as they complete their job responsibilities, and helping them as they manage their time and checking accounts.

Finance Park Volunteering

Finance Park is a reality based personal finance simulation for 7th and 8th graders. During their visit, students are tasked with computing their net monthly income, determining the amount they can allocate for their personal expenses and understanding the challenges of managing a personal budget. Volunteers work with a small group of students facilitating group discussions, providing assistance with completing budget plans, and allocating their money.
